cool things to do in UK

The weather gets hotter, the days get longer and fun seekers set out in full force in search of the next adventure. Whether you’re a kid looking forward to days off school or employed and waiting to take advantage of accrued holidays, summer has a way of winning everyone’s heart. As a teacher, I look forward to those summer days of fun all year. In New Zealand, the summer holidays fall over Christmas, leaving the month of January to hit the beach, explore and play all day.

Lately I’ve been thinking about looking into options to take my career abroad – I hear UK Summer breaks are fun and I’d love to experience a traditional northern hemisphere summer on that side of the pond.

Where to get away

I am still a huge kid at heart and love to play; I’m also a water baby and I seek out water parks wherever I travel – so far I’ve some across Canada and even in Thailand. Then I heard about Splash Waterworld at Butlins Resorts. A park with flumes, lazy rivers, wave pools and wild rapids easily grabs my attention.

If I was already living and working, imagine how easy it would be to take a weekend holiday in August, to get away and experience some activities such as a bounce pillow or rocking out to a silent disco – choosing a pair of headphones and your own music, and dancing the night away!

And the shows! Butlins offers a variety of unique and exclusive entertainment – from the Big Top Circus designed especially for Butlins guests and feature the usual circus suspects of high-flying acrobats and jugglers, comedians and heaps more.  There’s also a show of Crazy Dunkers, featuring NBA and Olympic finalists showing off their dunking skills

I’m always looking for another new neat place to experience summer, and Butlins resorts strive to offer affordable short breaks aimed at the working couple and family. If my teaching career doe in fact take me abroad in the future, this looks like a great place to check out.
