RTW Inspiration: My 7 Super Shots with Hostelbookers

I wasn’t actually nominated for Hostelbooker’s 7 Super Shots  but I read and loved RTW Backpackers inspiration and they nominated anyone… So I took that opportunity to find some of my favourite photos. Boy it was hard to choose! I also learned I ought to better organise my hard drive of photos one day soon.

So after much deliberation, here they are…

The picture that…..takes my breath away
It still amazes me that I live next to the Tasman Sea;
that I get to see the sun set every night, and listen to the
crashing of waves before I go to sleep and when I wake up.
I am a pretty fortunate expat ;)
The picture that….makes me laugh or smile
My first Christmas out of Canada, away from my amazing family! <3
They’re something special, can always feel the love
even from across the globe.
 The picture that….makes me dream
Of all the places and adventures these feet are going to take us!
Our first overseas adventure – to Rarotonga.
 The picture that….makes me think
Everything’s gonna be alright.
The picture that….makes my mouth water
A taste of home, a Nova Scotia classic – Potato Skins!
At the Grand Banker Bar & Grill, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia
The picture that….tells a story
Summer of 2007 and 2008 I worked at Camp Trillium,
a camp for kids who have or had cancer and their siblings.
It is such a special place that takes such a terrible
thing for a family and turns it on it’s head into
memories to cherish. That place changed my life.
The picture that….I’m most proud of
Not so proud ‘of the picture’ but what it is…
If you would have asked me before I came to
New Zealand if I could run 21.5km I would have laughed in your face.
But I did! And I’m going to do it again.

So glad that you took the group nomination initiative, because then I got to see these pictures! The picture that takes your breath away ALSO takes mine away, but I have to say that my favorite is the Christmas one. It made my heart absolutely melt. I’m going to be planning a trip in the next year or two and that’s something that gets me every time! How do you celebrate when you’re on the road?

I’ve spent four Christmas’ abroad, and although it’s never easy, it does get easier! I was fortunate to have spent an entire year in NZ before my first Christmas away, which allowed me to make some pretty awesome friends, who took me into their family and made me a part of theirs without hesitation. Following that, my parents came for the second Christmas, and I had a blast introducing them to summer Christmas (I’m a huge summer fan, so I love it even though it’s completely different to what I know) The third and fourth Christmas away, I spent with friends and pretty casual, had a potluck dinner with my boyfriends family, but even to them it’s not a huge deal. I make sure to video chat with my parents. Just remember that it’s actually just another day, so make the most of the opportunities available :)
